Confusion in MAPOLY, as Mgt. set to begin exam on Monday

Following the recent crisis that trailed the upgrading of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY to Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology, MAUSTECH and the establishment of a new Polytechnic at Ipokia, the students
of the Polytechnic have been left in dilemma over whether examination will commence on Monday or not.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the uncertainty reigned supreme as a result of rumours circulating among the students that the examination which has been scheduled for September 18th, 2017 would not hold.
It was reliably gathered that the lecturers of the Polytechnic who are currently against the operation of the Technical committee led by Former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Peter Okebukola might be planning not to participate in the examination as scheduled.
It was further learnt that this reaction was due to the failure of the Ogun state government to reply the salient questions concerning the conversion of the polytechnic to University, which was reportedly being raised by the Academic of Staff Union of Polytechnic, ASUP, MAPOLY chapter.
It was also gathered that the government replied the letters of the ASUP, but the government was alleged to have addressed the letter to Ogun Poly, Ipokia, which reportedly made the ASUP reject the letters.
It was furthered gathered that the government later sent another letter to the SUP which was also addressed to Ogun Poly, Abeokuta, but the ASUP was said to have insisted that it was MAPOLY not Ogun Poly as addressed by the government.
Further findings have shown that the Union in conjunction with others in the institution has been having Congress upon congress since the beginning of this week, but,it was reliably learnt that the congress has not been able to come to amicable resolution whether the exam will begin on Monday or not.
However, the rumour has affected the students’ preparation for the forthcoming examination. Some of the students who spoke to our correspondent claimed that they are affected by the situation of things in the institution and everything is discouraging them in preparing for the exam.
They furthered expressed their fear concerning the transition, saying that the process might affect their education career.
Meanwhile, the management insisted that the examination would commence on Monday just like it has been stated in the school academic calendar.
One of the Directors, Dr. Goke Raufu reiterated that the Academic calendar is still intact, charging the students to prepare hard for the forthcoming exam.
He also assured the students that they should not panic, adding that they will graduate with a valid certificate that cannot be rubbished by anyone.
In the same vein, the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Ogun state Chapter, Comrade Balogun Olawale also assured the students that the exam is commencing on Monday as stipulated in the academic calendar.
The NANS chairman however, appealed to the government and the management to come up with an amicable resolution that will not jeopardize the future of the Students.
Contrarily, PLATFORM TIMES reliably gathered that the lecturers are not planning to start the exam on Monday, as claimed by the management.
It was reliably gathered that most of the lecturers have not submitted their examination questions for the proposed exam.
PLATFORM TIMES learnt the examination might not commence until the government responds to the questions being raised by the ASUP.
